In which format should I send my artwork for printing?

The best format to send your artwork in for printing is as a vector file.  This way you save on design time as we do not have to redraw your artwork.  We can however do this for you if your designer did not provide you with the vector files for your artwork and logo.

Vector files and formats is graphics designed in specialised designing programmes such as Adobe Illustrator , Adobe Photoshop , Coral Draw, Free hand.

The easiest way to recognise if the artwork you have is designed in one of the above programs is to look at the the artwork in questions' file extension. For example if the file you have is called Grapic1  the file extension is either Graphic1.AI , .PSD ,  .FH(#5-11/MX) ,  .EPS  or .CDR , the chance is very good that this is a vector file which can be modified for your printing needs. Most of the times , these files can be converted out of their designed programmes to a universal format which can open in Adobe acrobat reader. These file extensions can be recognised as PDF files. Thus the extensions will be Graphics1.pdf.

Example showing effect of vector graphics versus raster graphics:

vector image versus raster graphics

The original vector-based illustration is on the left.  The upper-right image illustrates magnification of 90x as a vector image.

The lower-right image illustrates the same magnification as a bitmap image.  Raster images are based on pixels and thus scale with loss of clarity, while vector-based images can be scaled indefinitely without degrading quality.
